Apple Tricks

One of the bigger issues with Apple devices is the store, your purchases and the version of the operating system you use. You may want to download a great app that you have heard about but you can’t locate the app in the store or it gives you an error when you try and download it telling you’re your operating system is to old. There is a solution to breathe new life into that older iPad. Continue reading….

Here’s the scenario..you have an older iPad that is running iOS 9.3.5 or 9.4 You find that when going to the store, many of the apps you want to download, install and use tell you that the application can only be run on version 10.4 and newer. Are you now stuck with a device that cost you several hundred dollars and is as useful as a brick? No, not at all. If your old iPhone you may have once used had the application on it, you may be able to install it onto your older iPad. The key is to use the same Apple I.D that will contain your history of purchases. If you take a look at the App Store on the tablet, you will notice at the bottom of the screen [Purchased]. This folder will contain all the purchased Apps you have made with your Apple I.D…whether they be FREE downloads or ones with a fee. At the top right, you will see iPad apps . The screen is currently showing you apps downloaded for your iPad. By selecting [iPad Apps] at the top right, you can change it to [iPhone Apps]. The screen will now show you the apps that were downloaded to any iPhone or iPod Touch you may have owned. Many of these apps can be downloaded to your iPad and work just fine. So, in a nutshell, if you go to the store on your iPad, it will not show the new version of the app you want or will not allow you to download an older version. By accessing the database of iPhone applications, you will find that you will be able to download older versions of the app you want onto your iPad. The big trick… if you have a newer iPhone or iPod Touch, download the app that you want to eventually have on your iPad. Now go to the iPad and it will be in the history of your Apple I.D which will allow you to now download an older version! . This will work with most applications but not all. Give it a try and give you old device a new life.
